Tree Peony Pruning

A lot of confusion arises when Tree Peony Pruning is mentioned. Here at Blue Iris Landscapes we have over 15 years experience in pruning and maintaining many plants including the Peony.

We have completed a table to explain in detail how to look after them.

Resist the urge to prune… Established produce Time to Prune…
Tree peonies eventually flower on soft green shoots. Even on really old branches. So unless they become too big or messy you don’t need to prune. In the spring, new strong, green shoots appear from the ground; these will flower the following year. Once these new shoots have flowered, prune no more than a third.

Please contact us if you would like Blue Iris Landscapes to assist you in the pruning of your Tree Peony.
